Botswana in Three Worlds safari itinerary

Day by day

3 stages across 10 Days / 9 Nights. This is the route as it stands. Nights can be added in one place or a leg dropped entirely.

  1. Stop 1: Makgadikgadi Pans

    Stage 1 of 3

    Stop 1: Makgadikgadi Pans

The journey begins in the extraordinary landscapes of the Makgadikgadi Pans, where vast salt flats, endless horizons and remote desert wilderness create an unforgettable introduction to Botswana. This unique region offers a striking contrast to the waterways and lush islands of the Okavango Delta.

Depending on the selected luxury package, your stay will be at San Camp, Jack’s Camp or another selected camp in the Makgadikgadi region. Each offers its own interpretation of desert luxury, from elegant, understated tented accommodation to richly styled safari suites with exceptional attention to detail.

Experiences may include meeting habituated meerkats, guided walks with local San guides, game drives and, depending on the camp, seasonal quad biking across the salt pans or other desert adventures.

What makes this region truly special is its sense of space, silence and remoteness. Beneath vast African skies, the Makgadikgadi offers a safari experience unlike anywhere else in Botswana.

  2. Stop 2: Khwai / Mababe Region

    Stage 2 of 3

Stop 2: Khwai / Mababe Region

The journey continues into the wildlife-rich wilderness of Khwai and Mababe, where open floodplains, seasonal wetlands and stretches of woodland create a diverse habitat for Botswana’s iconic wildlife. This is a landscape of dramatic encounters, with large herds of elephants and buffalo sharing the plains with lions, leopards, wild dogs and other predators.

Depending on the selected luxury package, your stay will be at Wilderness Mokete, Khwai Leadwood or another selected safari camp in the region. From contemporary camps immersed in remote wilderness to intimate, nature-inspired safari retreats, each offers a distinctive way to experience the African bush.

Activities focus on guided game drives, tracking wildlife and discovering the region’s varied habitats. Depending on the camp, location and local regulations, guests may also enjoy night drives, guided walking safaris or time observing wildlife around the camp.

What makes Khwai and Mababe special is the combination of rich wildlife, diverse landscapes and a feeling of being immersed in the untamed African wilderness. It is a classic safari experience, with every drive bringing the possibility of an unforgettable encounter.

  3. Stop 3: Okavango Delta

    Stage 3 of 3

    Stop 3: Okavango Delta

The final stop reveals one of Africa’s most remarkable natural wonders: the Okavango Delta. A network of winding channels, lagoons, palm-fringed islands and open floodplains creates an ever-changing landscape that supports an extraordinary diversity of wildlife.

Depending on the selected luxury package, your stay will be at Wilderness Mombo, Little Vumbura or another selected safari camp in the Okavango Delta. Each offers a distinctive interpretation of Delta luxury, from exceptional big-game viewing in the Moremi area to intimate island camps surrounded by waterways and lush vegetation.

The Delta offers a variety of safari experiences. Game drives explore islands and floodplains in search of elephants, lions, leopards and other wildlife. Depending on the camp, water levels and season, guests may also enjoy mokoro excursions, boating safaris, birdwatching and guided walks.

What makes the Okavango Delta such a special finale is the remarkable combination of wildlife, water and tranquillity. Whether watching animals cross the floodplains or drifting quietly through narrow channels, guests experience a side of Botswana that feels both intimate and extraordinary.
