Stage 1 of 5
DAYS 1–2: KIGALI – CULTURE, HISTORY & ARRIVAL
Your journey begins in Rwanda’s welcoming capital, Kigali, where modern city life blends with rich cultural heritage and remarkable history. Staying at the iconic Hôtel des Mille Collines, you settle into elegant surroundings with panoramic views across the city. Known internationally for its historical significance during the 1994 genocide, the hotel today represents Kigali’s resilience, transformation, and warm hospitality. Time in the city allows for relaxed arrivals, visits to local cafés, galleries, vibrant markets, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial, providing meaningful insight into Rwanda’s past and present.

Stage 2 of 5
DAYS 3–5: AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK – RWANDA’S SAFARI LANDSCAPE
The route continues east toward Akagera National Park, a diverse wilderness of open savannahs, rolling hills, wetlands, and lakes. Over three nights, you explore different sections of the park through scenic game drives and immersive safari experiences. Akagera is home to elephants, giraffes, lions, rhinos, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, and an impressive variety of birdlife, making it one of East Africa’s most rewarding conservation success stories. Carefully selected campsites and lodges positioned within the park provide an authentic wilderness atmosphere, where evenings are spent beside the fire under expansive African skies and mornings begin with wildlife moving quietly through the surrounding landscape.

DAY 6: LAKE MUHAZI – SCENIC TRANSFER & RELAXATION
Leaving the savannah behind, the journey pauses at the peaceful shores of Lake Muhazi. This tranquil stop offers a slower rhythm before continuing north toward the volcanic highlands. Comfortable lakeside accommodation provides beautiful water views, quiet gardens, and an ideal setting to relax after the safari portion of the trip. Optional activities such as kayaking, short boat rides, or simply enjoying sunset by the lake make this transfer day feel like a destination in itself.

DAYS 7–9: VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK – GORILLAS & MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE
The dramatic volcanic landscapes of Volcanoes National Park mark the next stage of the journey. Dense bamboo forests and mist-covered slopes create the setting for Rwanda’s most iconic wildlife experience: mountain gorilla trekking. Guided treks lead deep into the forest to spend time observing gorilla families in their natural habitat, creating an unforgettable and emotional encounter. Guests may also choose to track golden monkeys or explore scenic hiking trails through the volcanic terrain. Luxury lodges near the park combine warmth and comfort with panoramic volcano views, offering the perfect retreat after active days in the mountains.

DAYS 10–11: NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK – RAINFOREST & FINAL EXPLORATION
The final stage of the journey leads southwest into Nyungwe National Park, one of Africa’s oldest montane rainforests. Thick jungle canopies, waterfalls, tea plantations, and mist-filled valleys define this spectacular region. Guided walks through the forest reveal chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, orchids, and extraordinary birdlife hidden within the dense vegetation. Guests can also experience the famous canopy walkway suspended above the rainforest floor, offering breathtaking views across the treetops.
