Stage 1 of 5
DAYS 1–2: KIGALI – HISTORY, CULTURE & ARRIVAL
Your journey begins in Kigali at the iconic Hôtel des Mille Collines, a historic property known internationally for its role during the 1994 genocide and later immortalised through the film Hotel Rwanda. Today, the hotel combines elegant comfort with panoramic city views, lush gardens, and a calm atmosphere in the heart of Rwanda’s capital. Time in Kigali allows for a gentle arrival, with opportunities to explore local cafés, art galleries, vibrant markets, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial, offering meaningful insight into Rwanda’s remarkable history and transformation.

DAYS 3–5: AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK – SAVANNAH & EXCLUSIVE SAFARI
Leaving Kigali behind, the route leads east into Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park and home to the Big Five. Over four days, you experience different sections of the park while staying at the exceptional Magashi Camp by Wilderness.
Set beside Lake Rwanyakazinga within a private concession, Magashi combines understated luxury with one of Rwanda’s most exclusive wildlife experiences. Spacious tented suites offer panoramic lake views, elegant interiors, and complete immersion in the surrounding wilderness. Days are dedicated to expertly guided game drives and boat safaris, where elephants, lions, rhinos, buffalo, giraffes, hippos, and abundant birdlife can frequently be observed. DAYS 6: LAKE MUHANZI & THE TWIN LAKES – SCENIC HIGHLANDS
The journey continues north into Rwanda’s lush highlands, where the tranquil waters of Lake Muhazi and the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo provide a dramatic contrast to the savannah landscapes of Akagera. Luxury lakeside lodges and peaceful retreats create a slower rhythm, perfect for relaxation after the safari portion of the journey. Scenic drives through terraced hills and traditional villages reveal Rwanda’s famous “Land of a Thousand Hills” at its most picturesque. Optional activities include kayaking, boat excursions, cycling, and guided community visits, while quiet evenings overlooking the water offer a serene and intimate atmosphere.

DAYS 7-9: VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK – GORILLAS & VOLCANIC LUXURY
Entering the mist-covered landscapes of Volcanoes National Park, the journey reaches one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations. Your stay at Bisate Lodge by Wilderness combines striking architecture, sustainability, and exceptional comfort within the dramatic volcanic landscape.
The lodge’s luxurious forest villas feature panoramic volcano views, fireplaces, refined interiors, and complete privacy immersed within reforested mountain slopes. DAYS 10–11: NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK – RAINFOREST & FINAL EXPLORATION
The final stage of the journey leads southwest into Nyungwe National Park, one of Africa’s oldest montane rainforests. Thick jungle canopies, waterfalls, tea plantations, and mist-filled valleys define this spectacular region. Guided walks through the forest reveal chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, orchids, and extraordinary birdlife hidden within the dense vegetation.
Guests can also experience the famous canopy walkway suspended above the rainforest floor, offering breathtaking views across the treetops.
